From Tony: "This is a horse that suffers from chronic laminitis. After the initial period of lameness and the application of Glushu’s she improved. However a second laminitic attack left her chronically lame. After consultations with the owner and her vet we decided on a bi lateral dorsal wall resection due to gas pockets building up creating pressure within the hoof capsule. This was done by myself with the vet in attendance. Removing the dorsal wall in this case was beneficial on several points, first and foremost was the release of pressure with the release of the gas, it also promotes restoration of the blood flow to the laminae and it promotes the regrowth of the hoof wall and laminae. Glushu’s were then fitted with the front cuff removed with frog support pad and eurathane pour in pad . Finally the feet were dressed with gauze and lightly bandaged. The prognosis is positive for full recovery over the coming months ."
